I thought your instructions were very well described and yet still concise. It was great to have all necessary links embedded on the page so that everything we needed was right there. I enjoyed the various parts of the lesson especially the creative project at the end. Clear directions helped. There was a lot of words for the directions but they were still easy to read. One in particular that sticks out is from this past winter (2010\/2011). I live in an apartment complex, one with a parking lot. During this Winter Storm, we got about 3 feet of snow in less than 24 hours. Our complex did not get plowed for two whole days. We were stuck inside our apartment for two days. I was unable to get to work or class for those two days. Luckily a local store down the road was open. However, I had to throw on layers of clothing and walk there if I needed something. Everyone in the complex was out trying to shovel out. There were cars parked in the middle of the parking lot, so when the plows did make it, they were unable to get any further until cars were shoveled out and moved! Our apartment complex really came together over these two days. You would see at least 10 people outside with shovels helping one another get out!","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"40379205","body":"Yes, life in Buffalo definitely gives you experience with snowstorms! I've always thought that blizzards and winter storms - although considered natural disasters - are some of the least disastrous of them all. Watching news clips about the recent tornadoes in the midwest really puts our snow in perspective! I lived in Nashville, TN a few years ago and moved home just before the May 2010 flood struck that area. I'll never forget watching news footage of flooded streets that I had driven on and the destruction of neighborhoods I knew well. Although I didn't experience that disaster firsthand, my familiarity with the area made it seem more personal.","dateCreated":"1308627900","smartDate":"Jun 20, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"SiobhanOConnor2","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/SiobhanOConnor2","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1307538477\/SiobhanOConnor2-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40404447","body":"I have only been in Buffalo for two years now and this past December was the first real taste of a Buffalo snowstorm. I was snowed in for over two days, and was unable to get to work. My best memory of a snowstorm was in the winter of 1996. There was a blizzard over the area in the Catskills where I grew up. After four days of snow, it rained and the temp. moved into the forties and the snow melted causing massive amounts of flooding. There was a state of emergency and I was able to play outside for six days.","dateCreated":"1308702454","smartDate":"Jun 21, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"WilliamRasi","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/WilliamRasi","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40404493","body":"Was not able to play outside...My bad.","dateCreated":"1308702568","smartDate":"Jun 21, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"WilliamRasi","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/WilliamRasi","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40419097","body":"Siobhan, that's really neat that you've lived in Nashville! I am a huge country fan and have always wanted to go there (and I plan on it at some point in my life!) I remember hearing about those floods and how all of the country stars donated the proceeds from their concerts or shows to help the people who were affected. I couldn't imagine going through something like a flood :( but it was so great to see that community come together to help one another out!","dateCreated":"1308760857","smartDate":"Jun 22, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"nataliesunshine","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/nataliesunshine","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40434227","body":"The one storm that I remember the most is the October storm. I remember being without power for three days. I would have to wake up and bail water out of the basement every couple of hours so the basement didn't overflow. I was living at school at the time and we were stranded for days. We were rationed food at the caferteria and our rooms were freezing. Some of my friends got their cars free from the snow and we headed home during the driving ban. I live in South Wales which is 45 minutes from the city. It was amazing to see that there was only a light dusting of snow on the ground there compared to the damage in the city","dateCreated":"1308839051","smartDate":"Jun 23, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"EmilyThiesen","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/EmilyThiesen","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40445213","body":"I actually don't remember the October storm...because I was at school in Oneonta! But I remember that I couldn't get a hold of my family here for a few days...it was scary!
